Ausstellung in Breslau: - Recovered Stories. Queer in Lower Silesia -
The exhibition initiates the process of queering the history of Lower Silesia – recovering fragments
that for decades remained in the shadows. It tells the story of queer life between 1871–1990+, from
persecution and silence, to the creation of communities the challenging of gender boundaries and
the preserving of alternative memories. The year 1945 becomes in this narrative both an ending and
a beginning of new queer stories – from the German past, through the memory of the Eastern
Borderlands of Poland, to the experience of the ‘new’ communist reality.

Joanna Hytrek-Hryciuk, Krzysztof Tomasik, and Piotr Laskowski, invite you to the exhibition:
